As a central Government Department serving the people of Ireland, the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport’s mission is to shape the safe and sustainable development of transport, tourism, and sport, to support economic growth and social progress. Over the next 10 years, the Department will oversee the delivery of more than €20 billion of new investment in Ireland’s transport infrastructure to enhance regional connectivity and improve environmental sustainability as part of the Irish Government’s ‘Project Ireland 2040’ overarching strategy to build a comprehensive social, economic and cultural infrastructure for all our people. Ireland is also the current ITF vice-president and will assume the ITF Presidency for 2020, promoting a presidency theme of ‘Transport Innovation for Sustainable Development.
